FAQ: How do I pay a parking ticket?
If you have received a parking ticket in the City of Ithaca and wish to plead to the infraction as charged, you should mail or present your parking ticket and the fine amount indicated on the ticket within 20 days of date of issuance to:

The Traffic Violations Bureau is open Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

FAQ: How do I contest a parking ticket?
APPEALS: If you wish to contest a parking ticket, you may do so within 20 days of date of issuance of the ticket. You must complete an appeal form (Adobe Acrobat version or Wordperfect 6 or greater version), which is also available from the Traffic Violations Bureau (address and hours of operation listed above) or from the City Court Officer located at the entrance lobby of the Ithaca City Courthouse, 118 E. Clinton Street, Ithaca, New York (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Once the appeal form is completed and filed with either the Traffic Violations Bureau or the City Court Officer at the City Courthouse, your written appeal will be sent to the City Court Judge for consideration and you will be notified, by mail, of the decision of the Judge.

FAQ: What happens if I fail to pay or answer a parking ticket?
If you fail to pay or answer a parking ticket, an additional fine of $15.00 will be incurred. Further, your registration on your vehicle may be suspended, your vehicle may be impounded and/or a warrant issued for your arrest.

FAQ: What are the penalties for multiple violations for parking in a handicap parking space?
Handicap Parking Symbol
For second time offenders within the past 12 months, a fine of $75 will be assessed.
For third time (or more) offenders within the past 12 months, a fine of $100 will be assessed.
Effective April 1, 2000, a $30 mandatory surcharge will be assessed in addition to any other       fine, penalty or sentence for illegally parking in a designated handicap parking space.

FAQ: What else should I know about City of Ithaca parking ordinances?
NO ALL NIGHT PARKING - Parking is prohibited between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on streets posted "No All Night Parking".
ODD / EVEN PARKING - From November 1 through April 1 of each year, there is no parking on the odd side of City streets on odd days and no parking on the even side of the City streets on even days between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. UNLESS otherwise posted. The odd / even sides of the street are determined by checking the house numbers on that street. This regulation is posted at the major entrances to the City of Ithaca.
