Judge Carnell T. Foskey

Judge FoskeyHon. Carnell T. Foskey was appointed Supervising Judge of the Nassau County Family Court on January 1, 2005, the first African American to be named to this position. Judge Foskey was elected to the Nassau County District Court in 1991, having had the distinction, at the time of his election, of being the youngest person to be elected to this position.

Prior to serving as a District Court Judge in Nassau County, Judge Foskey was employed by the Town of Hempstead as Interim Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development. Judge Foskey's government service also included serving as Executive Assistant to the Presiding Supervisor, Town of Hempstead.

In 1988, Judge Foskey had the privilege of running as a candidate for the New York State Assembly. A Doctorate of Jurisprudence from California Western School of Law , a Masters in Tax Law from Boston University and a Bachelors Degree from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, 1977 are included in Judge Foskey's educational qualifications.

Active in his community, Judge Foskey works tirelessly for his church. He is a Board Member of the Union Baptist Church and also the Union Senior Citizen Plaza , Inc. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association We Care Committee and the Peninsula Counseling Center.
