Jan H. Plumadore was born in Potsdam, New York on 29 July 1942 and was raised primarily in Saranac Lake, New York where he currently resides.
He graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1964 and Albany Law School in 1968. He served on active duty with the United States Army during 1968, 1969 and 1970 including a one year tour in the Republic of Viet Nam.
He was elected Franklin County Legislator in 1973 and re-elected in 1975. He was elected Franklin County Judge in 1977 where he served 10 years. In 1987 he was elected Justice of the Supreme Court in the 4th Judicial District and re-elected in 2001.
In 1993 he was appointed as Administrative Judge in the 4th Judicial District and served in that capacity until May 2004 when he was appointed to his current position Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for the courts outside New York City.
