Clark Richardson was born November, 1955, in Mount Vernon, New York. He graduated Yale University in 1977 and Cornell Law School in 1980. Directly from law school, he joined the Law Department of the City of New York, Office of the Corporation Counsel in the Family Court Division where he became the Borough Chief, Bronx County, in 1987. He left the Law Department to assume the Family Court bench in 1995, having been appointed by the Hon. Rudolph Giuliani. He served in Kings, Richmond and New York Counties before returning to the Bronx as Supervising Judge in 2000.
Over the years, he has been a member of many committees relating to Family Court issues, including, but not limited to, the Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children, chaired by the Hon. Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of New York; the Advisory Council of the Judicial Consultation Project for Infants, Children and their Families of the Jewish Board of Children and Family Services; the Interdisciplinary Forum on Mental Health and Family Law; the Committee on Juvenile Justice and the Family Court and Family Law Committee of the Association of the Bar; the 18B Advisory Board and Central Screening Committee for the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, First Department, of which he is currently the Chair; the New York Civil Rights Coalition, Race Relations Project; and the Committee on Social Services of the New York State Bar Association.
He has also received, inter alia, the Schonfeld Award from the Society for Adolescent Psychiatry for distinguished service to adolescents and the community; and a recognition award from both the Jewish Board of Children and Family Services for improving the lives of children and their families and the Courtroom Advocates Project for dedication in combatting domestic violence.
