NY LEO Program 2007 and 2008

What NY LEO Fellows say about their NY LEO experience:

I did not realize how rewarding LEO was until I started law school.  Even with law school professors who did not explain things in the best way for me, being familiar with the content and law school style kept me ahead of crowd, confidant, and focused in situations which I normally would've questioned my abilities.  Marize Ayob, 2008 NY LEO Fellow, SUNY Buffalo School of Law, Class of 2011.

I was nervous about law school, especially the first year; but, because of the LEO program I gained a new sense of confidence that made me believe I could succeed in law school and in the legal profession.  LEO is unique because it is like no other law school prep program.  It is truly an amazing opportunity.  I was able to really learn the material that’s taught during 1L in a non-competitive and supportive environment. The teachers and people who run LEO care with a genuine sincerity and want all of the fellows to do well.  LEO offered us not only classroom experience; but also, a hands-on understanding of what it truly means to practice law in the real world.  Simply put, being a LEO Fellow was awesome.  Getting accepted to the program was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that I will always be grateful to have been a part of.   Janine Brooks, 2008 NY LEO Fellow, Hofstra Law School, Class of 2011.

“I yearned for the chance to have a "test-drive" of the law school experience….  My confidence grew considerably as I went through the [NY LEO] program…. Now that I have experienced my first two months of law school, I realized how the program was geared to help me cope with the stress of law school, learn time management, deepen my analysis of legal concepts and improve on skills such as case briefing, note taking and exam practice.” Kelly Bayas, 2007 NY LEO Fellow, St. John’s University School of Law, Class of ’10

“I just wanted to let you know that the program was my only insight into law school and that it really did make a difference to me…. I hope the program keeps going so that it can help other students like me who were not fortunate enough to have any friends or family with a career in law.” Lycia Bronilla, 2007 NY LEO Fellow, New York Law School, Class of ’10

“Law school makes lawyers but NYLEO molds law students. Since one must be a student of the law before one can practice it, NYLEO should be integral to any aspiring lawyer's legal experience." Asari Aniagolu,  2007 NY LEO Fellow, Columbia Law School,  Class of ’10

“The NY LEO Program: Changed my apprehension to law school into confidence; is the foundation upon which I am building a successful law school experience; gave me the fundamental skills to be assertive and confident in law school.” Kadion Henry, 2007 NY LEO Fellow, Brooklyn Law School, Class of ’10

“Thank you for my NY LEO experience.  Prior to coming to school I hoped that it would give me an advantage over my peers; however, after my experience in my first week I can say without a doubt that it has.” Thaddecia Andrews, 2007 NY LEO Fellow, CUNY School of Law, Class of ’10 (and 2008 NY LEO Teaching Assistant).
