Overview

Attorneys have a professional responsibility to assure access to justice for those financially unable to afford a lawyer. Information and resources on pro bono service are provided here to assist attorneys in meeting this responsibility.

"Despite New York’s status as a nationwide leader in funding civil legal representation, impoverished and even working-class New Yorkers too often cannot afford the legal guidance or representation they need.  Serving as 'pro bono' counsel is a core element of being a lawyer, and I’m grateful to every attorney who has answered the call to work for the greater public good and provided life-changing legal representation for the vulnerable members of our community."
