Diversity “The value of a diverse Judicial workforce needs no argument—inclusiveness promotes public trust in justice.
We must therefore do everything in our power to increase employment opportunities for minorities and all applicants to the state judiciary, and we must start with our young people.
We must ensure that all applicants consider the state courts as an employer of choice.”

Jonathan Lippman
Chief Judge, NYS Unified Court System

Mission

Diversity The New York State Unified Court System has a long-standing commitment to equal employment opportunity, the elimination of under-representation of minorities and women, and to ensuring a diverse workforce that reflects the community.

Diversity contributes to the many different perspectives, approaches, talents and aspirations court employees bring to their work. Diversity considerations include nationality, ethnicity, race, gender identity or expression and many other aspects of backgrounds and identities including age, religion, geography, family status, sexual orientation, physical and mental ability and other differences. Some of our differences are unique to us as individuals; others connect us to groups of people. The strength of diversity is realized by valuing all these differences.

It is the objective of the UCS to ensure an atmosphere conducive to the highest quality of work, a workplace where all people feel comfortable and productive. The UCS will not allow any behavior that creates an intimidating or offensive environment.
