The Hon. Gloria D’Amico is the County Clerk of the County of Queens and has held the position since 1991. The duties of her position include Clerk of the Supreme Court of Queens County and Commissioner of Jurors. From the start, she has made it a priority to improve service and access for attorneys and the public.

As Clerk of the Supreme Court, she and her staff are responsible for creating and maintaining the records for all documents filed in the Supreme Court of Queens County from initial filing through final judgment including judgments issued directly by the Clerk when appropriate. During her tenure, the recording system has advanced from microfiche to digital scanning which permits immediate access to computerized records by multiple users. To expedite access to records and information, she created search departments to assist the public with inquiries. The County Clerk intends to continue to digitize pre-1992 records, participate in the E-filing of documents, computerize all departments and expand public access by increasing the number of workstations available for public use.

In her capacity as Commissioner of Jurors, she and her staff strive to make jury service an efficient and pleasant experience for the public. Consequently, Queens was the first county in NYC to institute the juror call-in program whereby jurors call in to find out whether they need to serve and when and where to serve. Jurors who call in and are not required to serve receive credit as if they have served. In addition, each location where jurors serve contains a knowledgeable and helpful staff along with large flat screen televisions, computers with internet access and vending machines.
