1. Where do I file an Order to Show Cause?
If the papers that you want to file consist of an Order to Show Cause or an Ex-Parte application, submit those papers to 10th Floor North.

2. When will this be signed by the Judge?
The Ex-Parte Office will process your application and send it to the Judge, usually by the next day. Once your papers are reviewed and/or signed by the Judge, they will be sent back to the office. Although a specific time cannot be provided for the return of the papers, most of the time, they are returned within two or three days.

3. How can I obtain a copy of my signed OSC that was submitted to the Ex-Parte's Office?
You may pick up a copy in person at the Ex-Parte's Office or you may download a copy of it online through E-Courts. Please click here for instructions of how to obtain a copy of it online.

4. Why wouldn't the Judge sign my OSC/Order?
We cannot speak for the Judge; unless the reason is written on your application, you may want to contact the Judge's staff.

5. Can I conform over the telephone?
No, we do not conform over the telephone.

6. What are the fees for an index number, RJI and/or a motion?
The fee for an index number is $210.00, for a Request for Judicial Intervention $95.00 and the motion fee is $45.00.

We cannot help you fill out your papers; please fill them out the best that you can.

9. How do I sue someone?
Please click on the Kings Supreme Court Help Center on the menu for additional assistance. If you go to the Kings Supreme Court Help Center in Room 122C you can get some information and/or papers to proceed with a lawsuit.

10. Why didn't I get a stay?
If your Order to Show Cause did not include a 'stay' paragraph you will not get a stay. If your OSC did include a stay paragraph, unless the Judge wrote the reason on the papers, you may want to contact the Judge's chambers for the answer to your question.
