3rd Judicial District
Ulster County-Commissioner of Jurors

WELCOME: We welcome you to the Ulster County jury system. Jury service is a duty, a privilege, and a right guaranteed by the Constitutions of the United States and the State of New York.

The law provides that a collective body of county citizens, randomly drawn from voter registration, state tax, motor vehicle, family assistance and Dept. of Labor lists, be brought before the courts in order to determine cases. Every resident of Ulster County 18 years of age or older, who is a United States citizen with no felony conviction is eligible. Your participation in the jury process is crucial as it helps to insure the individual rights of everyone in the community.

The Commissioner of Jurors in each county is responsible for providing State Supreme, County, Surrogate and various cities, towns and village Justice Courts with qualified jurors and the management of a variety of functions related to discharging this responsibility.

We understand that jury service may inconvenience your business and personal life. We assure you that our staff will give you every consideration within the limits of the law to accommodate your varying needs. The goal of both the court system and our office is to make jury service a positive experience.

Thank you in advance for your time and commitment to the New York State Justice System.
