Westchester Family Court operates at three courthouse locations
within the county. This
provides easy accessibility to the citizens of Westchester County.
The Family Court hears and determines most legal issues involving
children and families. In New York State, Family Court jurisdiction extends
to matters involving: child custody and visitation; adoptions and
guardianship; juvenile delinquency; persons in need of supervision (PINS);
child neglect and abuse; monetary support for children, spouses and exspouses;
determination of paternity; and domestic violence between family members.
Proceedings involving separation, annulment, or divorce are not
handled by the Family Court and must be brought before the Supreme
Court. |
