Presiding Justice John T. Buckley

JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE:
Presiding Justice, Appellate Division, First Department, New York State Supreme Court, having been designated by Governor George E. Pataki as Additional Associate Justice March 4, 1999, Constitutional Associate Justice March 14, 2002, and Presiding Justice March 11, 2003.

Supreme Court Justice, Fifth Judicial District, elected in 1994 (1995 to present), presiding at civil trials in Oneida, Onondaga and New York Counties.

Oneida County Court Judge, elected in 1979 and reelected in 1989 without opposition (1980-1994), presiding at felony trials in Oneida, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and civil appeals from City Courts and Town and Village Justice Courts.

LAW PRACTICE:
Eighteen years experience in private practice, six years with Kernan and Kernan, Utica, New York (1962-1967) and twelve years with Buckley & Scholl, Utica, New York (1968-1979).

LEGISLATIVE EXPERIENCE:
A Member of the Assembly (116th A.D. Oneida County) for six years (1967-1972), having been elected to three terms, and not having sought election to a fourth term.

EDUCATION:
Georgetown University (B.S. 1958), scholarship, honors in comprehensive oral exam in major (History) and elected Treasurer of the Yard (student body).

Albany Law School (LLB 1961), scholarship, Evidence Prize, President of class each year, manager of law school bookstore, clerk for State Senator Fred J. Rath.

University of Virginia, School of Law, scholarship (Master of Laws in Judicial Process 2004).

MILITARY SERVICE:
In 1961 entered the U.S. Army Reserves as a Private E-2, active duty with 322nd MP (CID) Unit, served with 414th Civil Affairs, Military Government Company, discharged as Captain, JAG Corp.

JUDICIAL ASSOCIATIONS:
Member of Executive Committee of the Association of Supreme Court Justices of the State of New York.

Member, Board of Directors, Supreme Court Justices of the City of New York (1999 to present).

President, Association of County Court Judges of the State of New York (1986-88).
