Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department to hold session at the
Queens County Long Island City Courthouse

In its continuing effort to better serve its constituents, The Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department will hold its November 5, 2018, sitting at the Queens County Long Island City Courthouse. Built in the late 1800s, and then re-designed after having been damaged by fire in the early 1900s, the courthouse contains a grand marble staircase and wood-paneled halls and courtrooms. It is a designated New York City Landmark, and maintains a place on both the New York State and the National Registers of Historic Places. Oral argument will take place in the majestic ceremonial courtroom, located on the third floor of the courthouse.

The November 5 court session will be presided over by Honorable Alan D. Scheinkman, who is the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department. Joining Presiding Justice Scheinkman on the bench will be Associate Justices Honorable Mark C. Dillon, Hector D. LaSalle, and Valerie Brathwaite Nelson, who hails from Queens County.
