TRIAL PART RULES

1. There will be a roll/calendar call at 9:45 am. All parties must answer the roll/calendar call. Parties arriving after the roll/calendar call has been completed must check in with the Clerk upon entering the Part and give the Clerk their calendar number which is on the calendar posted outside the courtroom.

2. All attorneys must file a written Notice of Appearance. It shall be the obligation of the attorney appearing to ensure that a current Notice of Appearance is on file with the Court.

3. All requests for adjournments and discontinuances must be submitted to the Court Attorney or the Judge for review. These requests will be considered immediately after the roll/calendar call; all parties should remain in the courtroom until after the application is heard.

4. HP cases must be conferenced initially with the HPD staff; assistance from the Court Attorney may be requested. In the event the conferences do not conclude in a resolution of the case, any party may request a conference with the Judge. All parties must remain in the courtroom and be available for the conference.

5. Proposed stipulations of settlement shall be submitted to the Court Officer or Clerk for review by the Court Attorney or the Judge. Pending such review, the parties shall remain availabe or be subject to rejection of the stipulation, default, dismissal or adjournment. If a party is required to appear in another courtroom, they must advise the Court Officer or the Clerk of the part where they are going and when they will return. All stipulations and orders to correct in HP actions must have access dates, indicate that workers must arrive by no later than noon, and include a completion date for the repairs.

6. All motions must be conferenced by the Court Attorney or Judge. No motion shall be submitted without argument before the Judge.

7. 9:30 am cases - if a party does not check in by 11:00 am the Clerk will put the case before the Judge for default or dismissal. If a party checks in at the roll/calendar call but fails to return by 11:30 am, the other side may ask the Clerk to put the case before the Judge for a default, dismissal or adjournment in the discretion of the Court.

8. 2:15 pm trials/hearings - if a party fails to appear by 2:45 pm for a matter scheduled for a trial or hearing, the Court in its discretion may conduct an inquest, dismiss or adjourn the matter.
