Samuel Alfred Foot, was, born in Watertown, New York on December 17, 1790. He was a graduate of Union College and was admitted to the bar in 1813. He was judge of the court of appeals in 1851, and in 1856-'1857 served two terms in the legislature, where he introduced resolutions condemning the Dred Scott decision. At the time of his death he was probably the oldest practicing lawyer in the state.
