The Historical Society of the Courts of the State of New York

Before New York There Was New Netherland:
Our Dutch Heritage (1609-2009)

The Society is proudly presenting a program as part of the 5 Dutch Days festivities on November 13th, 6:00 PM, at The New York City Bar Association. Two CLE credits will be offered.

Join us for a conversation with noted scholars on the Dutch influence in New York:

Russel Shorto, author of The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony

Jean Zimmerman, author of The Women of the House: How a Colonial She-Merchant Built a Mansion, a Fortune, and a Dynasty

Charles Gehring, New Netherland Project, New York State Library

We are also most pleased to be presenting the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Marching Band, Fanfare Trumpets, for a musical fanfare and salute.

A reception with Dutch treats will be part of the festivities.
