NYS Supreme Court: Its History

The Supreme Court was established in the English Province of New York in 1691. It was continued under the New York State Constitution of 1777 and is the oldest continuously-serving court of general jurisdiction in the United States. Celebrations marking its 250th and 300th anniversaries are included in these publications.
