Justice Charles B. Lawrence was born around the year 1920. He graduated from City College in 1941 and Brooklyn Law School in 1950.
Lawrence's career on the bench began in 1970 when he won election to the Civil Court of the City of New York. He served as acting justice for the Supreme Court in Brooklyn from 1972 until 1978, when he was elected to the Supreme Court. Governor Mario M. Cuomo designated him to the Appellate Division, Second Department in 1984.
Lawrence was a veteran of World War II, having served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He had two children and four grandchildren. He died on April 3, 1995 in Brooklyn at the age of 75.
