Administrative Judges Meeting |

On November 18, 2016, the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission met with the Administrative Judge for the Third Judicial District, Hon. Thomas Breslin and the Administrative Judge for the Fourth Judicial, Hon. Vito Caruso. Also in attendance was Scott Murphy, Deputy Chief of Staff for Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Courts outside NYC, and Beth Diebel, District Executive for the Third Judicial District. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss diversity initiatives in the Third and Fourth Judicial Districts. The Commission looks forward to continued efforts to increase diversity in the courts throughout New York State. |
On the day the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission was meeting with the Third and Fourth Judicial District Administrative Judges, the Appellate Division judges of Third Department were holding oral arguments at the County Courthouse. Honorable Karen Peters, Presiding Justice for the Appellate Division, Third Department provided greetings to Hon. Richard B. Lowe. |

On December 1, 2016, the Foundation for the Judicial Friends Inc. held its annual scholarship dinner at Tavern-on-the-Park in Flushing, New York. The honorees included Barry Clarke, Office of Court Administration Chief of Operations and Hon. Darcel Clark, Bronx District Attorney. |

On December 28, 2016, Joyce Y. Hartsfield, Executive Director for the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission, Jon L. Dueltgen, Labor Relations Attorney, Office of Court Administration - Human Resources Division and Robert Friedrich, Management Analyst, Office of Career Services were speakers at "Careers in the Courts" for the court recess training seminar for members of District Council 37. |

Tribune Society Awards Dinner Dance |

On, November 3, 2016, the Tribune Society, Inc. held its 48th anniversary awards dinner dance at Marina Del Ray. Hon. Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix, Associate Justice Appellate Division, Second Department, received the Alphonso B. Deal Award; Hon. Deborah Dowling, Supreme Court Justice, Kings County Supreme Court-Criminal Term received the Alphonso B. Deal Award; Esther Kelly, First Deputy Chief Clerk, Bronx Supreme Court-Civil Term received the President’s Distinguished Recognition Award; and Eugene Jordan, NYS Court Officer-Lieutenant, Queens County Supreme Court-Criminal Term received the President’s Distinguished Recognition Award. Hon. Sheila Abdus-Salaam and Hon. Robin Sheares accepted the Alphonso B. Deal Award on behalf of Hon. Deborah Dowling. |
