Whether as a Court Officer just starting out in Family Court or in his current position as a Principal Court Officer II, Major Eric R. Long has always been a positive force in the Unified Court System. From the beginning, he understood that the forum the courts provide for resolving legal matters must be one that is welcoming as well as one that ensures all people are treated with courtesy and respect. Major Long seems to have an innate ability to do just that. He knows both how to ask questions and how to listen to the answers. He is compassionate for he knows just how stressful coming to court can be. Court users who interact with Major Long walk away feeling satisfied, believing that the appropriate action has been taken or that their concerns have been adequately addressed.
Major Long has played an instrumental role in furthering the goals of the Quality Service Program in the Kings County Supreme Court. By continually monitoring the courtrooms, the security posts, and the officers in his command, he has insured that his staff understands the importance of providing the public with the best attention and service possible. His strong support has been particularly important because, for many people, the uniformed personnel are the representative face of the Court System.
