         This responds to your joint inquiry (15-56) asking whether you may post the procedure of resolving a traffic ticket on the Unified Court System’s website.

         The Committee has previously advised that a court may advise defendants charged with traffic infractions of all of their legal options, provided the court does not appear to be advocating a negotiated plea or in any way indicating a predisposition in the matter. However, while it is ethically permissible to advise defendants of all available options, the accuracy and completeness of the specific information you propose to include is primarily a legal question, which the Committee cannot address.

         Enclosed, for your convenience, is Opinion 99-82 which addresses this issue.
