Caution: Cards purchased at other libraries will not work
on our equipment.
Report any malfunction of the photocopiers to the library
staff. Members of the library staff will add paper, and clear
some paper jams, however all technical malfunctions of the
copiers are handled by an ISMG certified technician. Library
users who lose money operating the photocopiers should call
ISMG at 718-527-5923 for a refund, library staff , who are
court employees, are prohibited by the rules of the NYS Office
of Court Administration from any currency transactions or the
handling of U.S. coinage or currency with library users.
Change: The copy machines accepts one ($1)
and five ($5) bills, nickels, dimes and quarters only as well
as the Vendacard. A one ($1) dollar and five ($5) dollar
change machine is positioned adjacent to the two photocopiers.
The coinage available from this machine is limited to quarters.
The library staff is not permitted to make change.
Copy Cards: A Vendacard encoder (copy cards)
is located in the center of the main reading room adjacent
to the Reference Desk. Ask the library staff for assistance
if uncertain about how to use the machine.

NOTICE: The U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17 U.S. Code) governs
the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted
material. The person using this equipment is liable for
any infringement. Notices of copyright regulations in areas
of the library where CD-ROM, audiovisual, and microcomputer
equipment is available for public use.
$The following notice is to be displayed on unsupervised audiovisual
and microcomputer workstations in all Library units.

Staplers: Staplers, staple removers, a hole
punch and pencils are located adjacent to the copiers near
the Reference and Circulation Desks. Scissors will not be given
out by staff to library patrons.
Restrooms: Restrooms are located just outside
the library to the left and right of the main door of the library
reading room on the 6th floor of the courthouse in the adjacent
main hallway. The Ladies room is to the left as you exit, the
Mens room to the right.
Water Fountains: A water fountain is located
outside the Mens room on the 6th floor of the courthouse in
the hallway.
Telephones: Public phones are located on
the 6th floor of the courthouse a few steps to the right of
the exit door as you leave the library. Additional telephones
are located on the 5th floor in the alcove in the
public hallway.
Lounge: There are no Lounge areas for the
public in the courthouse. All food and drink is prohibited
in the courthouse. Smoking anywhere in the courthouse is prohibited
by both NYC local law and court rules. Eating, Drinking or
Smoking in the library is prohibited.
Lost and Found: A lost & found is located
at the Security Office. Please speak with any Senior Court
Officer at the courthouse for more information.
Valuables should not be left unattended. The Law Library is
not responsible for lost or stolen items. The library staff
is not permitted to watch briefcases or valuables of any kind.
No one should leave papers, briefcases or coats etc., unattended
in the library. Items left in the library at the close of business
will be collected by the Senior Court Officer and brought to
the security office for subsequent claim by the owner. Thefts
should be reported to any Senior Court Officer and/or the Circulation
Desk personnel.
Complaints: It is recognized that the prime
responsibility of the library staff is to provide a high level
of service to library users. Since service is our first concern,
any difficulty or dissatisfaction with library service should
be brought immediately to the Director's attention.
