Frequently Asked Questions

What type of alerts can I receive?

As a member of the New York Courts Emergency Alert Portal, you will receive timely alerts whenever a NY State Court (information is not available for Town, Village or U.S. Federal courts), is closed or delayed due to weather or other emergency reasons. The notice will be similar to what the NY Courts have been providing through Twitter (@NYCourtsNotice). The difference is, the New York Courts Emergency Alert Portal allows you to customize the locations that you receive notices for, so you won’t be notified about the courts in every county, unless you choose to.

I previously signed up for Twitter notices from the NY Courts. Do I need to enroll in the Emergency Alert Portal to continue receiving emergency notices about the courts?
Yes, you do need to enroll. As of May 1, 2021, alerts only are being sent out through the Portal.

Do I have to pay for it?
There is no cost to subscribe to the New York Courts Emergency Alert Portal. Check with your mobile phone carrier (and landline provider, as appropriate), as standard data fees and text messaging rates may apply.

Is my information private?
