| Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman announced the
appointment of three new Housing Court Judges: Inez Muñiz-Hoyos,
Lydia Lai and John Lansden. Judge Lansden's appointment is effective on
March 27, 2003, and Judges Muñiz-Hoyos and Lai will be appointed
on April 10, 2003.
Judge Muñiz-Hoyos has worked in the Bronx District Attorney's
Office from 1986, primarily in the Narcotics Bureau. She is a graduate
of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Brooklyn Law School. Judge
Lai has served as a counsel with the Office of Court Administration from
1996 to the present, and previously served in the New York County Supreme
Court's Law Department from 1992 to 1996. She is a graduate of Brown University
in Rhode Island and the University of California School of Law in Los Angeles.
Judge Lansden has been a court attorney with Housing Court Judge Timmie
Elsner since 2001. Previously he was in private practice with Penn, Proefriedt,
Schwarzfeld and Schwartz; Horing Welikson and Rosen; and Rosenberg and
Estis. Judge Lansden also served as the owner's representative on the New
York City Loft Board from 1995 through 2001. He is a graduate of Connecticut
College and St. John's University Law School.
