| Statement from Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman
Regarding Gerald P. Garson |
| "The integrity, fairness and impartiality of the Judiciary
are fundamental to fulfilling our core mission and maintaining the confidence
and trust of the public we serve. The events of today could not be more
disturbing to all judges, as they put in jeopardy that precious trust.
I have administratively suspended Judge Gerald Garson effective immediately,
and the matter has been sent to the New York State Court of Appeals for
further action and review. If there is wrongdoing of any kind in the courts,
there could be no individuals more outraged than the overwhelmingly conscientious,
hardworking and honest men and women who serve in the Judiciary." |
