2004-04552 In the Matter of Rebecca E. Carmen, a suspended attorney. (Attorney Registration No. 2326502)
| DECISION & ORDER ON MOTION FOR REINSTATEMENT |
Motion by the respondent for reinstatement as an attorney and counselor-at-law. The respondent was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Second Judicial Department on March 7, 1990. By decision and order on motion dated November 5, 2004, this court immediately suspended the respondent as a result of her conviction of a serious crime, authorized the Grievance Committee for the Second and Eleventh Judicial Districts to institute and prosecute a disciplinary proceeding against her, and referred the issues raised to a Special Referee. By opinion and order dated November 7, 2005, this court confirmed the report of the Special Referee sustaining the two charges against the respondent, and she was suspended from the practice of law for a period of two years, with credit for time served under the interim suspension imposed by the decision and order on motion dated November 5, 2004. By decision and order on motion dated July 24, 2007, the respondent's motion for reinstatement was held in abeyance and the matter was referred to the Committee on Character and Fitness to investigate and report on her current fitness to be an attorney.
Upon the report of the Committee on Character and Fitness and the exhibits annexed thereto, it is
ORDERED that the motion is granted; and it is further,
ORDERED that, effective immediately, the respondent, Rebecca E. Carmen, is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law and the Clerk of the court is directed to restore the name of Rebecca E. Carmen to the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law.
PRUDENTI, P.J., CRANE, MASTRO, RIVERA and SANTUCCI, JJ., concur.
