DECISION & ORDER ON MOTION
FOR REINSTATEMENT

Motion by the respondent for reinstatement as an attorney and counselor-at-law. The respondent was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Second Judicial Department on January 15, 1986, under the name Jeffrey Mark Adams. By opinion and order of this court dated April 17, 2007, the respondent was suspended from the practice of law for a period of one year as a result of a disciplinary proceeding in which all eight charges of professional misconduct against him were sustained. The charges arose from the respondent's failure to manage his escrow account in conformity with the disciplinary rules and his sharing of legal fees with a suspended attorney without applying to the court to fix the amount and manner of payment. By decision and order on motion dated February 22, 2008, the court held in abeyance the respondent's motion for reinstatement and referred the matter to the Committee on Character and Fitness to investigate and report with respect to the respondent's current fitness to be an attorney, including but not limited to the status of a reciprocal proceeding in the State of New Jersey, and his tax returns for the year 2007.

Upon the report of the Committee on Character and Fitness dated August 8, 2008, and the exhibits annexed thereto, it is

ORDERED that the motion is granted; and it is further,

ORDERED that, effective immediately, the respondent, Jeffrey M. Adams, admitted as Jeffrey Mark Adams, is reinstated as an attorney and counselor-at-law and the Clerk of the court is directed to restore the name of Jeffrey Mark Adams to the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law.
