DECISION & ORDER ON

FOR REINSTATEMENT

Motion by John L. Meunkle for reinstatement to the Bar as an attorney and counselor-at-law. Mr. Meunkle was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Second Judicial Department on January 15, 1992, under the name John Lawrence Meunkle. By decision and order on motion of this Court dated February 25, 2003, inter alia, Mr. Meunkle was suspended from the practice of law, pursuant to Judiciary Law § 90(f), based on his conviction of a serious crime, that is, criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree. By decision and order on motion of this Court dated March 28, 2003, Mr. Meunkle's motion to vacate so much of the decision and order on motion dated March 28, 2003, as immediately suspended him was denied. By opinion and order of this Court dated June 14, 2004, Mr. Meunkle was disbarred upon his resignation, effective immediately, and his name was stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law.

Upon the papers filed in support of the motion and the papers filed in relation thereto, it is

ORDERED that the motion is held in abeyance and the matter is referred to the Committee on Character and Fitness to investigate and report on John Lawrence Meunkle's current character and general fitness to practice law, including but not limited to, proof that Mr. Meunkle completed the requisite number of CLE courses, and information concerning any CLE course that Mr. Meunkle taught on the topic of real estate law.
