DECISION & ORDER ON MOTION

Motion by the Grievance Committee for the Ninth Judicial District to appoint an attorney to perform the following: (1) to take custody of, and inventory, the legal files of Timothy G. Griffin, which are located at 583 Barrack Hill Road, Ridgefield, CT, and the "Extra Space Storage" self storage premises located in Mount Vernon, NY; (2) to take custody of, and account for any money remaining in fiduciary accounts held by Mr. Griffin; and (3) to take such other actions as are deemed proper and advisable to protect the interests of Mr. Griffin's former clients in discharging the aforesaid duties. Mr. Griffin was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Second Judicial Department on March 20, 1985. By decision and order on motion of this Court dated November 12, 2014, Mr. Griffin was immediately suspended from the practice of law pursuant to 22 NYCRR 691.4(l)(1)(i) and (iii), and the Grievance Committee was authorized to institute and prosecute a disciplinary proceeding against the respondent. By opinion and order of this Court dated August 19, 2015, Mr. Griffin was disbarred, effective February 4, 2015, pursuant to Judiciary Law § 90(4)(a) based upon his felony conviction.

Upon the papers filed in support of the application and no papers having been filed in opposition or in relation thereto, it is

ORDERED that the motion is granted to the extent that Gary L. Casella, Chief Counsel to the Grievance Committee for the Ninth Judicial District, 399 Knollwood Road, Suite 200, White Plains, NY 10603, is hereby appointed as inventory attorney pursuant to 22 NYCRR 691.10(g) and is authorized to perform the following: (1) to take custody of, and inventory, Timothy G. Griffin's legal files, which are located at 583 Barrack Hill Road, Ridgefield, CT, and the "Extra Space Storage" self storage premises located in Mount Vernon, NY, and return them to his former clients; (2) to take custody of, and safeguard, the records of any business, escrow, trust or special accounts of Mr. Griffin, which are currently at the above locations; (3) to receive, open, and read any mail addressed to Mr. Griffin at the above locations; and (4) to take such other actions as are deemed proper and advisable to protect the interests of Mr. Griffin's former clients in discharging the aforesaid duties, and the motion is otherwise denied.
