DECISION & ORDER ON MOTION

2018-970 OR CR
The People of the State of New York, Appellant, v Newburgh Housing Authority, Respondent.

Appeal from judgments of conviction of the City Court of Newburgh, Orange County, rendered April 13, 2018. By order to show cause dated May 24, 2018, appellant was directed to show cause before this court why the appeal should not be dismissed on the ground that no appeal by the People lies from a judgment of conviction.

Upon the order to show cause and the papers filed by appellant and respondent in response thereto, it is

ORDERED that the motion to dismiss the appeal is granted and the appeal is dismissed, as no appeal lies in a criminal proceeding absent specific statutory authorization (see CPL 450.20; People v Santos, 64 NY2d 702, 704 [1984]).
