2011-07995 In the Matter of Lawrence Ivan Horowitz, a suspended attorney.
(Attorney Registration No. 2131316)
| DECISION & ORDER ON MOTION FOR REINSTATEMENT |
Motion by Lawrence Ivan Horowitz for reinstatement to the Bar as an attorney and counselor-at-law. Mr. Horowitz was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Second Judicial Department on July 1, 1987. By decision and order on motion of this Court dated January 10, 2012, inter alia, the Grievance Committee for the Ninth Judicial District was authorized to institute and prosecute a disciplinary proceeding against Mr. Horowitz based upon the acts of professional misconduct set forth in a verified petition dated September 1, 2011, and the matter was referred to the Honorable Arthur J. Cooperman, as Special Referee, to hear and report. By decision and order on motion of this Court dated January 31, 2012, the Special Referee was relieved and the matter was reassigned to the Honorable Jerome M. Becker. By opinion and order of this Court dated February 19, 2014, Mr. Horowitz was suspended from the practice of law for a period of three years, commencing March 21, 2014, based on eight charges of professional misconduct.
Upon the papers filed in support of the motion and the papers filed in relation thereto, it is
ORDERED that the motion is denied.
We find that Lawrence Ivan Horowitz does not demonstrate the requisite character and fitness to practice law.
SCHEINKMAN, P.J., MASTRO, BALKIN, LEVENTHAL and SGROI, JJ., concur.
