In the Matter of Dennis Steven Berkowsky,

a disbarred attorney.

(Attorney Registration No. 2280634)

DECISION & ORDER ON
MOTION FOR REINSTATEMENT

Motion by Dennis Steven Berkowsky for reinstatement to the Bar as an attorney and counselor-at-law. Mr. Berkowsky was admitted to the Bar at a term of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in the Second Judicial Department on July 29, 1981. By opinion and order of this Court dated March 18, 2015, Mr. Berkowsky was disbarred based on his conviction of a felony, and his name was stricken from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law, effective August 10, 2011. By decision and order on motion of this Court dated January 31, 2019, Mr. Berkowsky's motion for reinstatement was held in abeyance and the matter was referred to the Committees on Character and Fitness to investigate and report on his character and fitness to practice law.

Upon the papers filed in support of the motion and the papers filed in relation thereto, and upon the reports of the Committees on Character and Fitness and the exhibits annexed thereto, it is

ORDERED that the motion is denied.

We find that Dennis Steven Berkowsky does not demonstrate the requisite character and fitness to practice law.

MASTRO, A.P.J., RIVERA, DILLON, CHAMBERS and AUSTIN, JJ., concur.
