Language Help (Interpreters)

It is important that all sides can clearly understand what is happening during a court proceeding and are able to participate in court programs and services. If you cannot speak English well, you can ask the court to give you a free court interpreter to help you. The court also has free sign language interpreters for the hearing impaired.

Available Languages

The court system has provided interpreters for over 100 languages. If you or someone you know needs an interpreter for a court appearance, you should contact the Chief Clerk's Office of the court you are going to. If you don't know how to reach the court, you can call the Office of Court Interpreting Services at 646-386-5670 for more information.
