E-filing |
|
As announced by Chief Judge Janet DiFiore during her State of Our Judiciary address on February 6, 2018, electronic filing (e-filing) of documents will begin in the Appellate Divisions on March 1, 2018. At first, e-filing will only be required in certain types of cases. The list of those cases that must be e-filed in the Appellate Divisions will continue to expand until the newly adopted e-filing rules are fully implemented (see E-file Implementation Schedule).
E-filing is accomplished through the New York State Courts Electronic Filing System (NYSCEF). Please note, however, that if your case is subject to the Court's e-filing rules, counsel filing the notice of appeal may have to, among other things, register or confirm their registration as an authorized filer with the NYSCEF system within 14 days of that filing (see 22 NYCRR 1245.3).
