Overview
The Civil Court of the City of New York decides lawsuits involving claims for damages up to $50,000, small claims (cases involving amounts up to $10,000), and claims related to housing (landlord-tenant matters).
Located in the civic center of lower Manhattan, the New York County Civil Court handles cases dealing with issues as diverse as the borough it serves. Whatever the particular case, our goal is to deliver justice to every litigant who comes into the Court, regardless of background or personal circumstances. The New York County Housing Court serves landlords and tenants in seven resolution parts, seven trial parts and one HP part with efficiency, thought and care. The court provides numerous services to provide landlords and tenants with legal information and to otherwise assist the public. Everyday people from all walks of life appear, some with lawyers, some self-represented, all seeking justice. We are ready, willing and able to achieve that goal.
