Plattsburgh City Court

Mental Health Court

Program Participation Guidelines

Court-mandated treatment will have four phases and the completion of each will be recognized by awarding a certificate. The program phases will mirror the PROS stages used by Behavioral Health Services North (BHSN), the primary treatment agency for Mental Health Court participants. It is anticipated that each participant will appear in Court every other week during Phases 1-3. If greater frequency is needed, appearances will be scheduled for the regular court calendar. As a participant progresses to Phase 4, Court appearances will usually be reduced to once per month.

There will be Rewards for success and also Clinical Responses and Sanctions for infractions of the Mental Health Court requirements.

The expectations of the Plattsburgh Mental Health Court are:

  • Complete honesty and truthfulness about everything.
  • Treat others with respect.
  • No illegal drugs or abuse of alcohol.
  • Be law abiding.
