Digest:         The spouse of a judge may serve on the campaign committee of a candidate for the office of District Attorney

Rules:          22 NYCRR 100.7

Opinion:

A County Court judge asks whether the spouse of a County Court judge may serve on the campaign committee of a candidate for the office of District Attorney.

The Committee perceives no ethical objection to the spouse serving on such a committee. Section 100.7 of the Rules of the Chief Administrator, which refers to prohibited political activity of judges, makes no reference to the spouse of judges.
