Digest:         A part-time judge may be considered for membership on the New York State Bar Association Grievance Committee.

Opinion:

         A part-time judge, who practices law, is being proposed by the county bar association for membership on the New York State Bar Association Grievance Committee. The judge asks "whether a part-time judge can be considered in this capacity."

         The Committee sees no ethical objection to such service. It should be noted that judges serve in related matters throughout the State, e.g., Appellate Division justices passing on the disciplining of attorneys.
