         The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics has considered your inquiry (98-52) concerning the propriety of your seeking to be licensed as a private investigator.


         Enclosed for your information are Opinions 90-1 (Vol V), 91-127 (Vol VIII), 92-08 (Vol IX) and 92-63 (Vol IX) in which this Committee concluded that judges may maintain employment as private investigators subject to the disqualification requirements and other caveats articulated in the enclosed opinions.
