         This responds to your inquiry (14-142) asking whether you may serve as a hearing officer for the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics.

         The Committee has recently advised that a judge may serve as a hearing officer for this Commission, provided such service is legally permissible.

         Enclosed, for your convenience, is Opinion 14-129(A) which addresses this issue.
