Digest:         A judge may hold office where the judge's father is the town's ordinance and building code enforcement officer, but must disqualify himself or herself in any matter involving the judge' s father.

Opinion:


         A judge asks whether the judge may hold office where the judge's father is the town's ordinance and building code enforcement officer, who has the authority to issue appearance tickets to violators.


         The judge may hold judicial office where the judge's father is the town's ordinance enforcement officer. Pursuant to section 100.3(c) of the Rules of the Chief Administrator, the judge must disqualify himself or herself in any matter involving the judge's father or any appearance ticket issued by or under the authority of the judge's father.
