Opinion 93-97

September 14, 1993

Digest:         A judge may not accept a position on the advisory board of a legal publishing company.

Rule:            22 NYCRR §100.5(c)(2).

Opinion:

A full-time judge inquires whether the judge may accept a position on the advisory board of a legal publishing company, with an honorarium in the amount of $2,500.00.

Section 100.5(c)(2) of the Rules of the Chief Administrator prohibits a judge from serving as a member of the advisory board of any corporation, company, partnership or association organized for profit.

Therefore, it is clear that the justice may not accept a position on the advisory board of this legal publishing company.
