Opinion 99-32

June 4,1999

This is in response to your inquiry (99-32) in which you ask two questions relating to the propriety of the appointment of certain person(s) to the position of assistant village justice.

The questions refer to the appointment of persons other than yourself. Under such circumstances, we are unable to render an opinion. The Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics issues opinions upon the written request of judges and justices who seek advice on ethical issues and related matters pertaining to themselves. Since your inquiry raises no ethical issues concerning yourself, we are, therefore, not in a position to provide you with an opinion.
