NEW YORK – Presiding Justice Henry J. Scudder today announced the Appellate Division, Fourth Department’s appointment of Patricia Morgan as Clerk of the Court. In her new role, Ms. Morgan will hold the highest ranking non-judicial position in the Appellate Division. She will be responsible for managing the operations of the court; supervising non-judicial personnel; developing recommendations concerning policy, programs and procedures; and representing the Appellate Division before legislative committees, bar associations and other agencies. The appointment is effective immediately.

Presiding Justice Scudder said, “Patricia Morgan is an experienced and talented administrator with an impressive record of service to this court. She has performed her duties at the Appellate Division with great energy and skill, earning the respect of all those who have worked with her. We have complete confidence in her ability to serve in this important position.”

Patricia Morgan has served as the Deputy Clerk of the Appellate Division, Fourth Department, since 1990. Prior to her appointment as Deputy Clerk, Ms. Morgan served the Appellate Division in various capacities, including Director of the Law Guardian Program, Civil Motion Clerk and Confidential Law Clerk to the Court. Additionally, she was Principal Law Clerk to the Honorable Richard D. Simons at the Appellate Division and at the New York State Court of Appeals. She is a graduate of Eisenhower College and Syracuse University College of Law.
