Appeals from two orders of the Supreme Court, Nassau County, both dated August 7, 2024. Motion by the respondents New York Communities for Change, Maria Jordan Awalom, Monica Diaz, Lisa Ortiz, and Guillermo VanEtten for a preference in the calendaring of the appeals, for an expediting briefing schedule, and to consolidate the appeals.
Upon the papers filed in support of the motion and no papers having been filed in opposition or in relation thereto, it is
ORDERED that the branch of the motion which is for a preference in the calendaring of the appeals is granted and the appeals will be calendared expeditiously; and it is further,
ORDERED that on or before September 5, 2024, the appellants shall perfect the appeals by causing the original papers constituting the records on appeal to be filed in the office of the Clerk of this Court (see 22 NYCRR 1250.9[a][5], 1250.14[b]), and by serving and filing the appellants' briefs via NYSCEF, if applicable, or, if NYSCEF is not mandated, by serving the appellants' briefs, and uploading a digital copy of the appellants' briefs, with proof of service thereof, through the digital portal on this Court's website; and it is further,
ORDERED that on or before September 13, 2024, the respondents shall serve and file their respective respondents' briefs via NYSCEF, if applicable, or, if NYSCEF is not mandated, serve the briefs and upload a digital copy of the briefs, with proof of service thereof, through the digital portal on this Court's website; and it is further,
ORDERED that on or before September 19, 2024, the appellants shall serve and file their reply briefs via NYSCEF, if applicable, or if NYSCEF is not mandated, serve the reply briefs and upload a digital copy of the reply briefs, with proof of service thereof, through the digital portal on this Court's website; and it is further,
ORDERED that the branch of the motion which is to consolidate the appeals is denied; and it is further,
ORDERED that on the Court's own motion, the appeals will be calendared together and will be argued or submitted on the same date.
