Due to the renovation of the Courthouse, effective September 5, 2017, the Surrogate’s Court office and staff will be relocated to the Grand Jury Room located in the Veteran’s Memorial Building on the current Madison County complex.  All filings must be filed at this location. DIRECTIONS TO
181 Kenwood Avenue, Oneida NY
EFFECTIVE 9/25/17

From State Route 5 in Sherrill, turn onto Sherrill Road (the main intersection; across from the Savon Gas Station). Take Sherrill Road 1.1 miles, through two traffic signals, to 181 Kenwood Avenue (Sherrill Road becomes Kenwood Avenue at the creek/bridge). When you reach the Kenwood Avenue/Skinner Road intersection, the Temporary Facility will be on your left. It is a large stone building with a tall flag pole in the front. The parking lot is in the back. Please contact the Court Clerk’s office if you need further directions or have any further questions.

Overview

Surrogate's Court has jurisdiction over the affairs of filed, decedent's estate proceedings including those of probate of Last Wills and Testaments, administration proceedings in intestacy (instances in which the decedent dies without having duly executed a Last Will and Testament), small estate and ancillary proceedings, disputed claims, discovery proceedings, accountings, compromise and settlement of wrongful death actions, inter vivos and testamentary trusts. Guardianships of the person and property of infants as well as Article 17A proceedings are also handled through this Court.
