Madison County Surrogate's Court
All visitors must pass through a magnetometer
upon entering the courthouse.

Surrogate's Court has jurisdiction over the affairs of filed, decedent's estate proceedings including those of probate of Last Wills and Testaments, administration proceedings in intestacy (instances in which the decedent dies without having duly executed a Last Will and Testament), small estate and ancillary proceedings, disputed claims, discovery proceedings, accountings, compromise and settlement of wrongful death actions, inter vivos and testamentary trusts. Guardianships of the person and property of infants as well as Article 17A proceedings are also handled through this Court.

Records dating back to 1806 are on file in Surrogate's Court and are available to the general public.

Adoption proceedings are processed in Madison County Family Court.
