The first and only Asian American woman to serve on any of the four departments of the Appellate Division, Justice Lillian Wan is reminded of the adage “it’s hard to be what you can’t see” whenever she presides over an attorney admission ceremony.
“When I see three or four or five Asian faces, I see the reason why I'm up there,” Justice Wan said. “I know that because I'm there [on the Appellate Division], one of these brand-new lawyers can say to themselves, ‘Why not me?’” Read more...
