How to request an adjournment
- Appear in court on your court date and ask the Judge or arbitrator for an adjournment.
- If you cannot appear in court, you may request an adjournment in writing or by having your attorney request the adjournment.
- Most Judges will consider a request faxed to the courthouse.
- A copy of your request should be sent to the other parties.
- The Judge or arbitrator will decide if your case is adjourned or if the case will be heard without you.
Please Note:
- You cannot get an adjournment by calling the courthouse for any kind of civil or criminal case.
- Any written request for an adjournment must include the case number, the name of the case, and when the case is scheduled.
How to get your adjourned date
- Check on your adjournment request on WebCivil after your court date.
- Call the outlying courthouse where your action is filed after your court date.
