Overview
County Courts, City Courts, and Town and Village Courts share authority to handle trials in misdemeanor cases and other minor offenses. But only County Courts have the authority to conduct trials in felony matters. County Courts also have limited authority over cases involving claims up to $25,000.
A County Court is located in each county of the State (outside of New York City ). County Coun handles the prosecution of all crimes committed within the county . It has exclusive authority to handle trials in felony matters and shares authority with the local city, town and village courts to handle trials in misdemeanor cases and other minor offenses and violations. County Court also has the limited authority to hear civil cases involving monetary awards of S25.000.00 or less. County Court also acts as an appellate court for civil and criminal appeals from the town and village courts and for criminal, civil, and small claims (under S25.000.00) matters from city court.

Filing
All County Court papers are filed with the Court Clerk in Suite B5 of the Courthouse. Inquiries regarding pending criminal matters should be directed to the Court Clerk's office at 607-218-3320.
Record Checks
Local record checks are now available again and are being performed by the County Clerk. The fee is $5.00 for a 2-year search/per name. If you mail your request in, you must enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope and the County Clerk will return the record check results to you. They will not give results over the phone and they will not take requests for searches over the phone. There is also the state-wide search that is now being done by the NYS Office of Court Administration, Office of Administrative Services, Criminal History Record Search, 25 Beaver Street (Rm. 840 - front counter), New York, NY 10004. The Fee is $55.00 for a statewide search and all searches must be requested in writing on their form. Court clerk can provide you with form.
