Overview
The Ithaca City Wellness and Recovery Court (IWRC) is a specialized court that seeks to provide a meaningful response to the problems posed by defendants with mental illnesses. IWRC seeks to utilize the authority of the court and the resources of the court’s stakeholders to motivate offenders with mental illnesses to participate in treatment and recovery-focused services. IWRC addresses public safety and promotes accountability using coordinated, multi-systemic treatment services that place value on legal rights, public safety, and the well-being of individuals suffering from mental illness.

Mission Statement
